Abstract

The aim of deconstruction theory is first of all to challenge Western logocentrism and metaphysics. Logocentrism or presence is the tendency to affirm absolute truth in language or phenomena.  This research uses Derrida's deconstruction approach. The object of this research is the short story The Corpse Floating in the Lake by Seno Gumira Ajidarma which is taken from the short story selection of Kompas in 2012. The first stage is to conduct in-depth reading technique or close reading of the short story. Furthermore, the author will arrange, adjust, collect, understand, analyze, conclude, and respond to the data that will be obtained in the research. The results of this research through deconstruction are resentment, disappointment, and parental power.
